Hello Doctor Tam,

It's Nina. One of the nurses from Medical.

[Yes she originally contacted him in regards to joining the team, but in her experience with Doctors, they don't tend to be great with the whole remembering one nurse from the other. Also, there's a lot of people aboard.]

There's something I'd be interested in discussing in the medbay, when you've got a spare minute there. It's isn't terribly urgent.

Of course. You can come in anytime you like, I have time.

Ah. Right, I'm not far off. I suppose I'll see you shortly. [Well, that was surprisingly easy. Doctors tend to enjoy making a point to others how time poor they are.]

[He's in the Medbay as promised--not necessarily idle, but with the welcome lull of people being sensible and not trying to kill each other, Simon's found some time to catch up on paperwork.

Which does, of course, mean that he's looking for excuses to not do paperwork.]

[When she wanders in, Nina gives Simon a moment. She's not exactly demanding his attention from the paperwork.] Doctor Tam, I appreciate your time. [She does, even if she's hesitant how readily it's actually being offered.]

I wanted to talk to you about this- blood donation thing, at least the donations that relate to the Vampire food sources. [Yes, she's going to dive right in, Nina tends to be that way.] No one- [Well, Mitchell, George or Annie] -really seems to know too much about how to works, how closely it's monitored and by whom.

[She lets out a long breath, condensing matters.] I thought you might be the one to ask.

We have the capability to synthesize artificial blood. Most of the, ah. Vampires can subsist on it with no issue. The few that can't have found volunteers willing to donate, usually close friends.

I don't suppose you saw that message on the network last month, rounding up passengers, strangers. Anyone who'd offer, really.

[Nina's quite reserved, whilst it's nothing short of rounding up food, rather like cattle and generally enraging. She maintains a tone somewhat closer to concern, than anger. Letting out a breath.]

If it's got to be done, surely the medical department as a whole could maintain a stricter system? One that's entirely monitored by professionals?

[She's really not quite asking permission, closer gauging support, and educating herself as to what they have or haven't already tried.]

I did see it, yes.

[And his frown sort of indicates what he thinks of that. It's a touchy subject, of course, and he's tried to navigate it as diplomatically as possible, but he's accepted that he isn't going to please everyone.]

I don't endorse those posts. Those two in particular can't subsist on synthetic blood. I monitor the donors, and it's entirely voluntary.

It's not ideal, obviously. I didn't really...I was unfamiliar with the supernatural until I arrived here.

If, they're really concerned with the health of their donors-

[Apparently, says her disbelief.]

-perhaps they'd be willing to consider a more stringent system, where all blood is collected by the medical team, no private donations. At least, no advertisement. Donors remain annoymous to vampires...

[He's welcome to expand. Nina sighs softly, because really she wants to call them out on their bullshit, but in this circumstance, she can recognise the need to be a little more careful.]

That's entirely forgiveable, it's bloody ridiculous. It should be impossible.

[There's a wry smile, she certainly knows that feeling.]

I've apparently been living amongst them my entire life. I only found out about a year ago. Where I'm from- werewolves, and more so, vampires are entirely integrated into society. Everyone else just carries on, unaware.

It's...something that takes a bit of getting used to. I'm a doctor, not a diplomat, so you can imagine the...weird position we're in. As far as Medbay is concerned.

[She doesn't seem angry, at least, and he isn't about to turn down the guidance of someone more familiar with this kind of thing.]

Would you--if you're familiar with this...I'm absolutely open to implementing your suggestions.
